The Cannes Film Festival  

From 11th to 22nd May (Palais des Festival),Cannes

On May 11th  the 69th Cannes Film Festival will open on the famous Croisette. This year , will have the honor of being the master of ceremonies, and the Australian director, producer and scriptwriter Georges Miller will preside over the jury.

The Festival de Cannes is an event reserved for film industry professionals. There are no tickets.  Entrance can be gained with a badge or by invitation only.  However, there is a way for you to experience this famous event….. every evening of the festival there will be free open-air screenings of classic films on the Plage Macé.

Festival Crossover in Nice

From the 4th of May to the 30th of June 

Festival Crossover in Nice is a quirky cultural event that spotlights the artistic melting pot of contemporary music and other artistic forms such as cinema, plastic art, stage design, fashion etc…. Performances will take place on several different stages in Nice….. the Théâtre de Verdure, Villa Arson, Abattoirs-Chantier Sang Neuf, or Nice Opéra. For more info click here

10th Grand Prix de Monaco Historique

From 13th to 15th May

This Grand prix event is an unmissable for many globe trotting motorsport fanatics and collectors.  The Grand Prix de Monaco Historique is organised since 1997 and it takes place two weeks before the official Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix.

74th Grand Prix of Monaco

From 26th to 29th of May

The mythical race that all drivers dream to win takes place in the principality this month. The free practice, and qualifying sessions will last three days; and the 74th Grand Prix de Monaco 2016 will start the on the 26th at 2pm.

It’s the most popular event of the year on the “Rocher”.  If you want to avoid traffic jams, we suggest you to reach the principality by sea from Nice; it takes only 40 minutes. Moreover, the boat trip offers unique views  all along the way. For more information click here

Fête de la Rose

22nd of  May at 10:00 am, Route de Cannes, Opio 

A Provencal day that pays homage to the wonderful Rose Centifolia that used to fill the Opio hills with it’s fragrance.  The day’s program will include expositions and sales of rose products, a silk painting workshop, drawings, poetry and  Provencal music and dancing !

Fête des Mais 

From 1st to 22nd of May (1st May and Sundays only) Jardins des Arènes de Cimiez, Nice

Every year Nice celebrates spring throughout the month of May. This traditional festivity is a great way to discover the ancestral costumes and “niçois” way of life. There are folkloric shows, special local food tastings, popular dance and entertainments for kids.

Fête des Fraises

From 4th to 5th May (Place Louis Frescolini) Carros

If you are as greedy for strawberries as we are at Friend in France you cannot miss the second edition of this strawberry party! Entrance and entertainments are free. There will strawberries to buy & taste and lots of games for kids  (an animal farm, make-up stand, cookery class…)

Wild grass shoots and old branches are doing a party!!
